photo is a real oldie, I'm sure it's been posted multiple times over the years.  This was taken in a mid 70's summer...  After I got my first SLR but before I got a driver's license.  Somewhere around Beckly WV.  Scanned from a 5x7 print.  This particular image file is dated 9/2002, which is probably the first time it was put on the internet.

Throwback Thursday - Still Waters

Throwback Thursday, looking back at the Better-Photo years.  Many of these may have been posted here before, but probably not recently.  Hope you enjoy:

This one was taken at Miner Park, Glen Carbon, IL  One of my early dabblings with the BuzzSimplifier filter (which is now part of the Topaz suite of filters).

A dozen years down the line, they've reworked the stream crossing in this spot, resulting in much less of a "ponding"...

This is from a business trip to Seattle, WA.  Just a short walk from one of the hotels near the SEATAC airport, a little park called Angle Lake.  This is a detail of the closed Guard shack.closed because it was February, IIRC.

Deep WoodsPleasant Ridge park

Pleasant Ridge Park in not far from my office, and a nice place to spend luchtimes.  Along with the "groomed" area, there's a deep wooded space, with some rather rustic trails.  It's is kind of like going "home" to me, a (very small) slice of WV or Western PA.

Anyway, I decided to set up a Flickr album with photos from this area...  So here 'tis:

Emerson Lake And Palmer!

I couldn't resist...  saw this on Facebook.

Meanwhile, CARL PALMER’S ELP LEGACY is coming to the Wildey later this month.  I'm tempted, but probably won't go.   There's a few seats left, but not many.

Throwback Thursday - Western Washington State

Throwback Thursday, looking back at the Better-Photo years.  Many of these may have been posted here before, but probably not recently.  Hope you enjoy:

Back in the earlly 2000's, I used to get out to Spokane a couple of times a year, and usually found a little time to go exploring.  I believe this was October 2003.  It is somewhere on the road to Mount Spokane...

Leftovers - September 2016

Yep, it is October...And it is Saturday.  So I was looking through my "unprocessed" photos from the September.  Sometimes lefts can be tasty, sometimes, blah.  So what'd'ya think?:

Pleasant Ridge Park - 20160928

Pleasant Ridge Park is a nice little spot that is not far from my work.  It's a pleasant place to get away from the bustle of the day, one of my preferred lunch spots. But it also has some rather cool trails.  Rather "primative" trails, in the sense of being un-improved.  But when the weather is not too hot, and the ground is not too wet, they're perfect.  And last Wednesday was such a day.    The trails go from the groomed area, down into a ravine, where there is a small stream.  Here's some of the photos from last week:

I really like the lines and angles of this dead and decaying tree...  These were pretty high up, once upon a time...
- - -

Clearly, these rocks didn't arrive here naturally...And I doubt they were places by deer or squirrels.   other people must wander this area occasionally.  But I think I've only encountered somebody else in this area once....
- - -

I was in a b&w mood, and this is  the image that made it for me.  I really rather like this one.  Posted over at 365project, it hasn't gotten much attention though.  Sigh.  Oh well, still resonates with me.

This is teh same jumble of tress as the image above...  but a completely different look and feel...  at least that was the plan...
- - -

Yet another from the same spot.  This one's on Instagram...  I don't post much to Instagram.  It's kind of a hassle if you're not working from a phone...
- - -

A long shot, showing the trail.  It is pretty flat here, but has some steep sections ch are tricky when wet.  You can see from the stream (on the left) that it was pretty dry...
