Ice Storm
I planted this pine tree in 1989, when we moved to Illinois. It took quite a beating in last night's ice storm. This is the middle tree of a line of 5. I haven't mustered the energy to go out and check the others, it's just too depressing.
i will hope for the best. we've had ice storms like that here. i remember more than once my parents trees covered in thick ice but they survived it. the broken ones tho, i always morn. we have a lot of power out here, since about 6 pm last night. thankfully i wasn't one of them this time.
I heard on the news that Il. was hit the hardest by the ice storm and that a lot of the state is without power. Thought of you when I heard that. Hope you thaw out soon.
Thanks all for the good wishes. I've been out of town all week... Tonight's news says the number of homes/businesses w/o power is down to a few thousand, from a peak of 450,000 or so... Of course, it's 12 degrees right now, sure glad we have power! I'm going to have to start some cleanup of brances this weekend....
Great shot but I hate to see the mighty trees damaged like that.
