Crazy mama, where you been so long?
J.J. Cale had his first and only Top 40 hit with "Crazy Mama", which entered the charts 3/11/1972. This laid back number made it to #22. J.J. Cale is the renouned songwriter and master of the laid back guitar style that inspired Eric Clapton during his "Lay Down Sally" era. JJ Cale is one of the more influential unknowns, he's been covered by just about everyone, including: Clapton (4 times), Poco, Santana, Gatemouth Brown, Kansas, Lynyrd Skynyrd (twice), the Band, Waylon Jennings, and more.
