You Don't Have To Put Out The Red Light.......
On this day (4/7) in 1979, this new band called The Police had their first hit with an ode to a prostitute called "Roxanne". The world's introduction to Sting and the boys only made it to #32 on the charts, though they would go on to more success. Roxanne is a great song, it was fresh and new and different when it first hit the scene. Side story: during a party in college, I blew both woofers in my stereo speakers with this song.... at the same time. da-dum, da-dum, da-bfffffffff....... Off to Radio Shack!

You've heard the groovy cover of "Roxanne" on the "Moulin Rouge" soundtrack, have you not? It makes you want to either a) dance or b) get a prostitute. B, however, is illegal. I wouldn't recommend it.
