On this date (5/13) back in 1978, Patti Smith had her first (and only) Top 40 hit, when "Because The Night" made its chart debut. The song made it all the way to #13. It was co-written with Bruce Springsteen. I saw Patti Smith Group in concert that summer, they put on a great show. Not exactly "politically correct", but lots of high energy from the "High Priestess of Punk".
