Starting to get green....

Not too long ago, I bought a prime lens, some fruits of my playing on microstock. Prime, as in fixed focal length, as in the opposite of a Zoom Lens. I've been wanting a nice lens for a while, and the little bit of cash from microstock is a nice way to fund it. Naturally, between work and weather, I haven't had too much time to play with it. But with nicer weather coming around, I'm looking forward to working with it.

Reallys!

Carl G., over at Pittsburgh Guitars has recently found some old flyers for local bands from way back when. Including several from the the summer of 1979, featuring my brush with rock-stardom (via the Reallys)!! It’s the closest I’ll ever come to American Idol!!

I got a real kick out of these, they “really” brought back some memories. I’m no Chikezie or anything, but we sure had fun! And for all you youngsters out there, no grief about the quality. This was 3 years before the Commodore C-64, and ages before Desktop Publishing....

Wallowing in Self Pity...

No, no, no... Not me. Just thinking about music, and some whiney songs through the years.... Here's a few songs that really crank it out. Not just sad songs, or the blues, or songs of loss. But really wallowing in self pitty songs that somehow managed commercial success. ... Any suggestions for some more nominees??

Photos Found!

Regular (or even occasional) readers my know that I sell some of my images at various microstock sites. The plus side is a little bit of extra cash, and the kick of knowing people are actually willing to pay for my images. The down side is that we usually have no idea how our images are used (and we have no control over how they’re used). Yesterday, for the first time, I found a couple of my images in use, which is a very cool feeling!! I did a simple google of my name, looking for images, and found these two articles at Science Daily:

Pretty cool, huh??

Of course, what's kinda funny, in an "accuracy in media" kind of way: The first article talks about water pollution from power plants, IN THE PITTSBURGH AREA. The photo they used was taken in Springfield, IL. The second article discusses a study in the United Kingdom on effects of Diesel exhaust. The photo is from just outside Chicago.... Oh well, doesn't bother me one bit!

Round Barn

There’s a round barn on the outskirts of Pullman, WA. I guess they’re kind of like covered bridges, technology that has largely faded away. And, like covered bridges, I think they’re cool….

For some reason, I’ve long been drawn to photos such as this. And they never look like what I envisioned when I snapped the shutter. But I like to think that I’m getting closer to capturing what my mind sees… I suspect I’m just fooling myself. Regardless, I'll never stop trying.
