Ed King joined Skynyrd during the recording of the band's first album, replacing bassist Leon Wilkeson. Wilkeson rejoined soon after, and King shifted to guitar, creating Skynyrd's signature 3-guitar sound.
Born in California, he was the first member of the original band not from Jacksonville, Florida.
Ed king was 68, and passed August 23.
