Bad Time
This day (4/19) back in 1975 was one of those "huh?" days in music history. Hitting the Top 40 on 4/19/1975: the novelty song "Shaving Cream" by Benny Bell, and "The Beer Barrel Polka" by Bobby Vinton. There's nothing like a little rock and roll, and these are NOTHING like a little rock and roll. On the flip side, Bowie's "Young Americans" and "Bad Time" by Grand Funk Railroad also came out 4/19/75. None of these songs cracked the top 25....

You're Shaking My Confidence Daily
Simon and Garfunkel's hit Cecilia hit the Top 40 today (4/18) back in 1970. This is one of those infectious, happy little songs with, well, depressing lyrics. "Making love in the afternoon with Cecelia, up in my bedroom. I got up to wash my face, when I come back to bed someone's taken my place." I can see where that would shake your confidence...... Cecilia made it all the way up to #4, and into our collective concsiousness...
In A Gadda Da Vida?
Another shot from Missouri Botanical Garden, from our Good Friday outing. I left this one pretty large, since it is a bit busy…. . .
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, baby, Don't you know that I'm lovin' you
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, honey, Don't you know that I'll always be true
Oh won't you come with me And take my hand
Oh won't you come with me, We'll walk this land
And please, please, take my hand

Quote of the Day...
"Nobody, I think, ought to read poetry, or look at pictures or statues, who cannot find a great deal more in them than the poet or artist has actually expressed"

Botanical Garden
We went to Missouri Botanical Garden yesterday, after spending an hour in traffic trying to get to the zoo (there was no parking available anywhere NEAR the zoo!)…. In almost 17 years living out here, I’d never been to MBG. We had a nice outing, though it was pretty crowded, too. But I did prove to myself that I’m not very good at photographing flowers. Here’s a few attempts. Maybe if I converted them to B&W?? . .

Egg Hunt
I just like the B&W, really.....

Structured and organized, you have a knack for thinking clearly. You are very logical - and you don't let your thoughts get polluted with emotions. And while your thoughts are pretty serious, they're anything from boring. It's minds like yours that have built the great cities of the world! |

The Long & Winding Road.....
On this date (4/10) back in 1970, Paul McCartney released his first solo album and formally announced that the Beatles had broken up. Details at HistoryChannel.com
Watershed Nature Center
I’ve been a big fan of Edwardsville’s Watershed Nature Center ever since it opened, and try to get up there at least a few times a year for a Nature-Break. Last Saturday, my son and I went for a walk near sunset. We had the place to ourselves, just us and the wildlife.
This is the Welcome Center, from behind, with reflection on the lake. The trees are just getting ready to explode in green!
Looking back across the lake, with some sort of waterfowl ambling along….

Looks Like Home To Me!
My wife and younger daughter are on a college visiting trip, and sent me these pictures from their drive. This is SW Va, not far from Lynchburg...
I want to be there. ....
