Steppenwolf's "Hey Lawdy Mama" hit the top 40 on this day (5/9), back in 1970. The song only made it to #35, but it doesn't exactly follow the pop formula..... "Baby, don't you know, We're leaving, early in the mornin, So long, I don't know, we might be back next year"
