We the jury....

Well, I received a summons for Jury Duty today. GRRR. I don’t mind the whole civic duty thing, at least in concept. But I don’t understand why I get called every 5-6 years, while many others have never gotten called. So you go down to the courthouse, sit around and see if you’re needed. If not, repeat the next day. But it’s worse is if you actually get selected. Last time, I sat on a personal injury case (which is the norm out here in lawsuit hell). Over several days we did at most 2-3 hours of actual “work”, between recesses and sidebars and general sitting/standing around. Then, right as the arguments were winding down, they decide to settle. Wasted, wasted time. Did I mention it was a massive waste of time? Anyway, the image above is the courthouse.

I Ain't No Limburger!!

A wonderful little clip of that wacky band from Georgia.

Official??

I ordered some business cards today, from VistaPrint. I got their name a while back, but just decided today to make up some “photographer” cards. Mostly a silly thing, I’m certainly not pushing the business thing. But It was under $20 total, including using one of my photos as the background. Not too bad, we'll see what they look like. The link it to my Shutterstock gallery.

Almost

This is a photo of a crabapple tree in full blossom, on a windy day. I was trying to catch a little bit of a blurring, with a 1/30th second exposure. Whatever, it didn’t work. Only some of the branches show movement, and the dark blue sky (thanks to a polarizing filter) is intrusive. Oh well, I'll still post it!

10 Mile

No, it's not the sequel to Eminim's movie. It's the distance that we rode our bikes yesterday! My wife and I and our 7 year old son, along with some friends. Pretty good ride for a couple of 7 year old kids, and some old folks. A great way to spend a few hours on a beautiful day.

Kicks

A couple of shots from my son's soccer match yesterday… That's him playing goalie below:

Save Internet Radio?

OK, I’m not a real big “activist”, but I do like internet radio. Often when traveling, I’ll listen to internet radio through my laptop. I know I’ve posted about Pandora, and I also listen to radio through iTunes and others. So, if you care, check it out!

Ideal Proportions

I snapped this image of my son trying to play the art at SouthWesten Illinois College. We were there for his AIM test, which is associated with his piano lessons. This really cool piece of art was hanging down the hall from the testing room, and I caught him practicing his piece while waiting. Those are real piano keys... Sadly, I didn't have my "real" camera, or this one would be going onto microstock! The piece is"Ideal Proportions" by Leslie Reuther, below is the whole thing:

A friend suggested I try yesterday’s post in B&W. What’s do y’all think???

Grids and Blocks

Three windows on top, 2 doors below... Straight and true, symmetrical, but for the tree....

Along the main drag in Niles, Ohio. Right across the street from the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial. On a cold, dreary, drizzly Day in April. I can't help but wonder what this place used to be?

Jelly, Jelly, Jelly (redeux)

Another Jellyfish image…..

Jelly, Jelly, Jelly

Taken last week at the Pittsburgh aquarium. They had this really cool display of jellyfish. With the low light, it required a ½ second exposure, with the camera braced against the glass. Despite the lack of sharpness (from the slow shutter speed) I really like it!!
