Yet Another Old Barn

This old barn is right about here.  Right long I-55,  This has been a favorite landmark of mine for close to 20 years, along the STL to Chicago run.  The old farmhouse has probably been gone for at least 10 years, looks like the barn is fading fast.  Take last Wednesday on the northbound trip.

Here's a version of the barn from 3/2008, it was a little less collapsed at that point.

Here's the first picture I took of this spot, I believe it was 1996 or 1997.  On film, scanned and tweaked.  The barn os off screen to the right

Throwback Thursday #42103 - BP Revisited

From sometime in 2002 through the early 2008, I was pretty active at BetterPhoto.com.   It was a fun site, it inspired my "rejuvenation" in photography, and I met a lot of cool people.  But, for me at least, it kind of ran its course.  Now, in the spirit of throwback, I figured to post some of my favorite (or at least notable) images from those days.

This is from mid 2007, a road-side spot in Funk's Grove, Illinois.  One of my favorite place names, Funk's Grove...  Along old Rt. 66.  In the classic "can't get there here" world, it is about 0.3 miles from the interstate, but about 5 miles from the nearest exit(s).

This one received an Editor's Pick badge.

World's Largest Catsup Bottle

This was one of my shots (yesterday) for my 365project.  This one ended up 2nd choice, in favor of this one.

I've posted images of this landmark a few times over the years, another can't hurt, right?  If you particularly like it, it's for sale!

Throwback Thursday (Belated) #42096 - BP Revisited

Sorry folks, I fell behind.  Missed 4/2/15's throwback, and I'm a day late for 4/9/2015.  I'll try and be better.

This is a real oldie.  Shot on (slide) film back in fall of 1978. Scanned and tweaked sometime along the way.  This is from my old backpacking days, at the old fire-tower on Tuscarora Trail, in central Pennsylvania.  One of my favorite places, though I haven't been there in decades.  The tower was right here:  39.950251,-77.936867

Shark Look Up

The underside of the old railroad bridge that now carries a bike trail over an active rail line.  This message is sprayed at the top of the support.  I'm not quite sure what it means...

Lazing On A Sunny Afternoon

I had a nice outing at WNC today (my son drove to/from!).  Lots and lots of turtles sunning on the water, I had to snap a few.  Another photo (and larger) at my 365Project site.

My son (he of the learner's permit) suggested the title, from the old Kinks song.

Old Barn, Louisiana, MO

Regular readers should not be surprised to see an old barn on my site...

Old Farm House, Outside Louisiana (IL)

Another from last weekend's trip to Hannibal, etc.  We found this old farmhouse along Rt. 79, just past Louisiana, MO.  And almost across the street from this place.   And larger version here.  Oh yeah, and a different (B&W) view here....

North St. Louis #42,094

My son's on spring break this week, I took a couple days off to share the time off.  Nothing too dramatic, but always good to spend time...

Yesterday (Tuesday) we went to Crown Candy Kitchen in North St. Louis.  Great, food, Great atmosphere, Great time.  Highly recommended.  As we were leaving, I noticed this abandoned building, just a block or so east.  Naturally, this is what I had to take a photo of....  I do like old buildings.
