Capture52 - 52 Week Challenge - 2022 edition - Week 16

So, there's a photography thing, Capture52, where they provide a weekly topic and you're challenged to take a photo based on it.    I discovered it on 365project a couple of years ago, and have dabbled with it a couple of times.  But I've never made it far into the year, never close to all 52 weeks.  But I'm giving it another shot in 2022.  It'll be interesting to see.  Besides their Facebook group (which has almost 2,400 members), and 365project, there's an Instagram hashtag, I'm trying to post to all three.  You can see how my year progresses by clicking on my tag:  52weekchallenge2022 - 16 weeks and still rocking!

Week 16 (16 April - 22 April) Tell a story This week your challenge is to capture a compelling image that tells a story

Week 13 (26 Mar – 1 April) Something you made We all make things whether it be a cup of coffee, a meal or an elaborate art/craftwork. Show us what you made. No photo’s of your kids. Yes you made them, but think of something else.

Boy, I struggled with this. I'm just not all kind of creative (outside photography), After much consternation, I came up with this. I had the opportunity in my job (a few years ago) to write technical papers for industry conferences, and I have a notebook of most of them. This one is from 2004 and titled "Harmonic Sharing for Effective Detection of Transformer Inrush Condition in Differential Protection Schemes"...

It's been over 10 years since I've had the opportunity to write / present a paper, life has led me in ther directions.

Capture52 - 52 Week Challenge - 2022 edition - Week 6

It had been my intention to do weekly posts of my entries into Capture52, where they provide a weekly topic and you're challenged to take a photo based on it.  Well, I posted my week 1 and 2 entries together, posted week 3, and then did weeks 4 and 5 together.  Then nothing through today (which ended week 10).

So I'm going to catch up.  I figured to do a post every other day or so until I catch up.  thansk for putting up with me!

So, anyway:  Here'go:

The theme for Week 6 (5 Feb - 11 Feb) was Red:  "Red is the colour of drama and intrigue. Find something red to photograph this week."

As I noted at the time: A bit of a challenge, between work and other photo challenges,  but I don't hate this one...

Week 1 (1 Jan - 7 Jan) - Self-portrait

Introduce yourself. Who are you? What drives you? Extra challenge: Tell your story without including yourself in the image. No cheap selfies or snapchat filters!! Really put some thought into it.  I decided to include myself, as did a lot of folks.  But no "cheap selfie", this was my Fujifilm on a Tripod out in the field!

So, how do I make a self portrait that says something about me? Obviously I need a camera. And it needs to be a black and white shot. And something nature. I opted for Watershed Nature Center, one of my regular haunts for a couple of decades. Too bad I had to bundle up, and still could barely feel my fingers!

Week 2 (8 Jan - 14 Jan) Street Photography

Here’s an opportunity to get out and about and try some street photography. Capture an intriguing candid moment on the street of your local neighbourhood.

Just a little "slice of Life" from the Wal Mart parking lot on a Friday evening...

Two weeks in, 50 to go!  At least week 3 is "Landscape".  More in my wheelhouse, at least.  Now if the days would just get a little linger so there's light after work.
