Buzzy

A couple of weekends ago, atop Kamiak Butte. I have no clue what the flower is, but I do know a bee when I see one!! Gotta love my macro lens, btw!

Bright Lights, Big City

Sunset from room 2516 of the Sheraton, downtown Chicago... From a cell phone camera, even!

That's the Chicago river, and the new Trump building....

Gone Gretsch

Yep, I’ve got a new toy, a Gretsch bass, (and amplifier), courtesy of my older brother (thanks Bro!!). I don’t think I’ll be auditioning for American Idol any time soon, but its nice to be able to play around again!

Wild Lichen

Like many kids in the 60's and 70's, my brother and I had a slot car track and model railroad sets. And we had this bizarre green stuff called lichen that was used to simulate bushes and trees.... Years later, I still get a smile when I come across the stuff growing in the wild. I presume the stuff you buy in hobby stores is grown in massive lichen farms.....

Rocky

Hells Gate State Park, Lewiston, ID. Looking at this image reminds me of something I read about Ansel Adams once. Apparently old AA was not shy about moving twigs and small branches, making minor adjustments to improve the composition. Even pulling up a sapling, if I recall the story correctly. Meanwhile, I tend to “shoot it as it lays”, a habit I need to break. Why do I bring it up?? That silly weed in the immediate foreground is bugging the heck out of me. Sigh.

More Clearwater River

A couple more images along the Clearwater river, a couple of weeks ago…

The first image is along Lower Hog Island, at the edge of the Nez Perce reservation. The second is further upstream, somewhere between Lenore and Orofino, IIRC.

A Dogs' Life

It’s been almost 10 months since we adopted our puppies, its got to be close to their 1-yr old birthday (I have enough trouble keeping track of the people's birthdays in my family, don't ask me to know the animals' birthdays!). They're about 75 pounds each these days, and don’t seem to be suffering TOO much… Thanks to my wonderful wife for snapping this shot, I only did a little tweaking:

Here's the post from when they were brand new to us: click here

On Kamiak Butte

This one came out pretty close to what I wanted. Almost, but not quite. I look at it, and tweak the composition in my head, and dream of better lighting. Of course, I soulda tweaked the composition in reality, while I was there.... Still, it was a nice day, on Kamiak Butte. Not yet warm, and no gale force winds.... Old Barns

I do like images of old and decrepit buildings.... What can it mean? Both of these recent images were shot in the Palouse region of SE Washington State. And both are for sale at the various microstock where I participate. Oer 75% of the images I've uploaded to Shutterstock have at least 1 sale, proving that microstock isn't just about "businessmen shaking hands" or Flowers... Not that I'll be quitting my day job, or anything. But it's more fun that the online contests....

Starting to get green....

Not too long ago, I bought a prime lens, some fruits of my playing on microstock. Prime, as in fixed focal length, as in the opposite of a Zoom Lens. I've been wanting a nice lens for a while, and the little bit of cash from microstock is a nice way to fund it. Naturally, between work and weather, I haven't had too much time to play with it. But with nicer weather coming around, I'm looking forward to working with it.
