Breathe Deep the Gathering Gloom, Watch Lights Fade from Every Room....
The Moody Blues' biggest hit, "Nights In White Satin", made its Top 40 debut this day (9/2) back in 1972. This one didn't quite make #1, stalling in the second position. Notable for the spoken poem at the end, actually titled "Late Lament"... The lat e70's punk group Dickies did a 900 mph version of this dirge, which is pure art.
