Poco....

Happy Birthday to Jim Messina and Timothy B. Schmidt, both 58, and both members of Poco, though not at the same time. Poco is one of the really good, but little known bands of the early/mid 70's counrty rock movement. Their album Cantamos remains one of my favorites....

Nice plug for my favorite band from high school. But Messina and Schmidt were in the band together. Schmidt joined on their second, self-titled, album when Randy Meisner left to become bassist of the Eagles. I don't remember whether Messina left right after "Poco" or if he was on their third album ("Deliverance", and live album).
Interesting that Schmidt would later leave Poco to replace Meisner as the Eagles' bassist.

Yep, MikeW, you introduced me to Poco, if you recall. Great band.... The first time my car got broken into when I lived in Wash. DC, and they ripped off my stereo, the thing that bugged me most was they also took my tape of Cantamos, just cause it was in the deck........ I have it on CD, now, of course!!

I couldn't remember the exact chronology, what I put in the post was based on the stuff that's linked to from the original post....
