7/19/1952, Born on this day, Allen Collins, guitar, Lynyrd Skynyrd.  Allen Collins co-wrote quite a few Skynyrd songs, including Freebird.  IMHO, he was the second most important member of the band, behind singer / lyricist Ronnie Van Zant.  His solo album is quite good, too.

 

Allen died on 23rd January 1990, at the age of 37. He would've been 59.
