Each Walk Undertaken Is A Shadow Not Stayed In

another repost, from 1 year ago today.....

Here's an oldie, but a goodie... This was taken back in high school, a mere 27 years ago. I scanned the original slide a couple of years ago, and added effects in MGI Photosuite (which is what I was using back then). This is from the C&O Canal Hiking trail, near Big Pool MD. The quote is from Michael Dennis Browne, a poet we studied in high school.

Ohhh...the C&O Canal. One of my favorite places. Hiking down the towpath from Little Orleans to the Paw Paw Tunnel, following BD in his Big Green Suit. I did a reenactment along the Canal in Georgetown over the summer. We set up a garrison camp, answered questions, commandeered the canal boat, and got to ride on the roof while the mules pulled us along. Every time I've been to the canal, I've had a great time. Someday, I'd like to bicycle the legth of it, Cumberland to Georgetown (downhill, of course!)

I hope it's smoother than it was. Back when we lived in DC, I rode my bike from near Georgetown outbound, made it ALMOST to the beltway when I blew a tire. Had to walk back. My wrists were numb for days after the vibration of the gravel......

I should also note, one of the people here is MikeW..... can you guess which (Hint: it's the guy). I think this was my first real backpacking trip, my feet were in pretty bad shape when it was done. I had to borrow MikeW's stick to make it into campsite the first day, and learned not to pour rubbing alchohol onto bleeding blisters....

Yep that's BeckyB, wonder what ever happened to her...

I remember "that" trip....  I liked the trek over Paw-Paw, though.  We got over the mountain and had to wait a long time for the rest of the group to catch up.  It wasn't too long after that when you came up lame.  I still think we should'a just shot you... (kidding).  I do have pictures of you laid out...........
