Casimir Pulaski Restored
Today (3/3/2014) is Casimir Pulaski Day.As wikipedia puts it: a holiday reserved in Illinois on the first Monday of every March in memory of Casimir Pulaski ... a Revolutionary War cavalry officer born in Poland ...and known as "the father of the American cavalry".
A holiday NORMALLY reserved in Illinois, that is. With all of the bad weather this year, the local school districts have exhausted their snow day reserves. The grand idea was to cancel the Polaski holiday (as well as a Teacher's Institute Day) to make up some of the shortage.
A Grand Plan, except that it snowed over the weekend. And 4 degrees this morning with wind chills in the minus-double digits. So no school after all!
