Hedge Apples
This is a shot from last November, from Silver Lake Park. Another “one of those”, that I really like, but was (predictably) overlooked at the on-line contests I frequent. I still like it. .
We called them Monkey Balls when I was a kid...there was a line of them there monkey ball trees marking the property border between Shady Side Academy and the Pittsburgh Field club. They have a horrid odor.

I like it too. What exactly is a hedge apple? Don't think we have them in California.
The B&W shows off the textures nicely.
Hedge Apple?? Big ugly tree fruit. They're lime green in real life, about the size of a softball.

Monkey Balls!! That;s the term from my youth that I couldn't remember!!
