Spring Melt...

A couple of images from Lake Springfield, which is on the south side of Springfield IL. Driving up (or down) I-55, you cross over this lake. I recently took a side trip around the lake, which is ringed by cool little parks. It’s worth the side trip.

The patterns of the spring thaw are fascinating. The 2nd picture has a beautiful abstract quality to it.

I remember the first time I saw the Mississippi River covered with ice from shore to shore as I crossed it on I-80 near Davenport, IA. My eyes were seeing it, but my "raised in New Orleans" mind still couldn't believe it!

Well, we are far from seeing open water here on our lake but hopefully it won't be too long. I love how the waterfowl appear as soon as the ice begins to give way to open water. I love the spring and the fall for that matter and I enjoy the in between. Great winter photo which I can totally relate to!
